A deck that I received recently as a freebie and one that I’ve enjoyed using due to the colourful characters and warm glowing images. I’m beginning to think of The Witches Deck as the perfect deck beside a winter’s fire as it evokes hues of strong amber, yellows and reds. The witches deck creates a sense of warmth and magic even if you feel the reading is not the most pleasant.
Like the Wildwood deck, this deck wouldn’t be suitable for the complete beginner as it also encapsulates meanings from the Qabalistic Tree of Life but definitely one to add to your collection as you delve more into the tarot. It’s a good complement for the more experienced reader and a lovely one to read by candle night.
A Christmas Ghost story by Charles Dickens and no it’s not ‘A Christmas Carol’
Published December 26, 2013 by morganathereader
If you’re watched ‘Willy Wonka’, ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ and ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ too many times and have had enough, you can’t go wrong with the eerie ghost story, ‘The Signalman’ by Charles Dickens.
A lonely signalman, guarding an isolated railway is haunted and warned by a shadowy and beckoning figure and always just before an accident happens at his station. The haunted guardian is played with quiet terror and rising anxiety by the wonderful Denholm Elliott.
The BBC production shot in 1976, stands the test of time and of course, the good sign of a ghost story is not what the creators explain but what they leave you guessing with. It’s genuinely atmospheric and an intriguing short story.

You can keep your domestic goddess…

…Because this gathering of Goddesses looks a lot more interesting.
Organised by the Rathcroghan Centre, Co Roscommon, Ireland, this is a festival surrounding the role of women in mythology, Irish history and magic. The line up of speakers include Wicca Teacher Vivienne Crowley, writer Stephen Grundy, Herbalist Anna Ruadh and modern witches Janet Farrar and Gavin Bone.

Published November 11, 2013 by morganathereader….another deck of Cards.
But this time, I visited the Mind, Body and Spirit festival recently in Dublin at the Halloween break (and the weather was turbulent, windy and I thought the trees were going to crash down on the way). Once inside I wandered around and spied a stall that I had previously had my eye on before. I joined a small queue and picked up a deck of the Labyrinth Wisedom Cards by Tony Christie.
Tony is based in Cork and created a deck of 48 Oracle cards back in 2005. They are very popular and I later went to his talk on the cards at one of the session later. His stall at the exhibition was one of the most popular at the weekend.
The Cards
The imagery is bright and generally of warn oranges and red and for shuffling, the cards are glossy and easy to use (I have midget hands). What’s also good are the meaning of each card which comes with the booklet. The advice is clear, supporting and to the benefit of the seeker. As much as I like the 78 tarot cards some days I just want a good punchy message to guide me and the Labyrinth cards encase that guidance.
There are 3 readings in the booklet that Tony Christie recommends:
- The 3-card, past, present and future.
- The Chakra Spread
- The Body spread (7 cards shaped in the figure of a matchstick man)
I am going to work on them for another couple of weeks and then offer 3 free readings if anyone is interested. So reply below and let me know.

Miley Cyrus can twerk away to her heart’s content but nothing beats Kate Bush waving her arms around in an optical whirl chased by a guy wearing a gimp suit or is that a pair of tights over his head?
Tarot Decks
Published October 24, 2013 by morganathereaderI’ve been using Tarot decks for nearly 10 years now and love collecting decks even just for my pleasure. And although I believe everyone has free will over their future, I have found that the tarot cards for me do act as an interpretative aid for situations that I’ve been in whether it’s friends, work or family-related.
Some people have the uncanny knack of trusting their gut instinct even though the situation or person in front of them is the complete opposite to what they’re feeling. It took me a long time to rely on my own gut instinct rather than just naturally following others opinion. I am a typical Libran, I’m extremely indecisive. With the tarot cards, I have found them a useful back-up, and I mean, backup rather than a crutch, to assist with helping my intuition and going within when situations get hectic or I need guidance.
I will be setting up my services with Tarot reading in the future using the following spreads and cards either on Ebay or on this website:
12-month Astrological, Celtic Cross Reading and the 5-Card of Horseshoe spread.
The following decks that I use are:
- Shadowscape
- Mystic Dreamer
- Rider-Waite (original, mini-deck, I have extremely small hands)
- Alchemy of England 1977
- Steampunk tarot
- Wildwood Tarot
- Witches Tarot
- Oracle Deck – Madame Endora Fortune Cards
